REFURBISHMENT OF MICROBIOLOGY LABORATORY
ABSTRACT

This work presents the raw materials and steps used in the refurbishment of microbiology laboratory at institute of management and technology. These material used include marble tiles, white cement, white glue, filling machine, cutting machine, board and nose mask the steps includes filling of the table tops, mixing the white cement and white glue, application and smoothening, placing of the tiles and final smoothing. The need to apply marble on the table is to enable the table last long it resists the table from being burn by fire it avoid the table from being damaged by chemical and white colour is used because of the enzymes e.g. micro organisms.

CHAPTER ONE
1.0       INTRODUCTION
Refurbishment which is also known as renovation could be defined as the state of being restored to its former good condition.
It also main to make clean bright or fresh again or a condition supervisor to an earlier condition the microbiology laboratory was refurbished using tiles.
(Choice of Refurbishment vanguard newspaper (Egbu 1996)
A tile is a manufactured piece of hard wearing material such as ceramic, stone metal or even glass. Tiles are generally used for covering roofs floors and walls or other objects such as table tops. Another category is the ceiling tiles made from light weight materials such as perlite wood and mineral wool. The word is derived from the French word tuile which is in turn from the Latin word tegula meaning a roof tile composed of baked clay. Less precisely, the modern term can refer to any sort of construction tile or similar object such as rectangular counters used in playing games.
(Davis Langton 1998) tiles are often used to form wall and floor covering and   can range from simple square tiles to complex mosaics.
Tiles are most often made from ceramic with a hard glaze finish, but other materials are also commonly used such as glass marble, granite, slate and reformed ceramic slurry which is cast in a mould and fired, (James F Kellam 2003).
A ceramic is an inorganic non metallic solid prepared by the action of heat and subsequent cooling ceramic materials may have a crystalline or partly crystalline structure or may be amorphous (eg a glass) Because most of common ceramic are crystalline it is also in organic crystalline materials as opposed to the non crystalline glasses the  earliest ceramics were pottery (citation needed) objects or 27000 year old figurines made from clay either by itself or mixed with other materials hardened in fire. workers of ceramics (Crassostrea Iredali Oyster 2009).
